Elizabeth was selected by UIL as the Rotary Student of the Month!

Burnet CISD sent 5 teams to The Texas High School BBQ Association cook off at Travis High School in Austin. When the smoke cleared, Burnet CISD had 5 teams that qualified for the Texas High School BBQ Association that will be held on May 7th in Burnet!

This past Friday the girls showed up in Hutto Texas to beat an undefeated Giddings team in the Regional Quarter Final with a score 3-2 in double OT.

Although short in numbers, the team finished 3rd behind Salado and Lake Belton High Schools. Individual winners and team winners will now advance to the Region 3 meet to be held in Nacogdoches at Stephen F. Austin State University on April 22-23.

On Friday, March 18th, Abby Smith lifted at the THSWPA State Powerlifting Meet for the second time! She had a fantastic day, going 7 of 9 on her lifts and finishing with personal records in her squat, bench, deadlift, and total. She placed 14th overall, Total = 660*, Squat = 250*, Bench = 265*.
BHS is very proud of her!!

After a long day of debate, our CX Debate team of Grace Gates and Hayden Brown finished the day going 3-1 and 113 combined speaker points. They advanced to the Octafinals of the State Tournament that took place at UT Austin.

In the octofinal round (or Sweet Sixteen), our team faced a very talented team from Caddo Mills, a member of which had won Top Speaker for the tournament the day before.

While Grace and Hayden did their absolute best and debated at the highest level ever witnessed from them, the panel of judges gave the round to Caddo Mills in a split 2-1 decision.

Words cannot express how proud BHS is of this duo. They worked incredibly hard throughout the year and that showed this weekend by the fact that they ended their state run among the top debate teams in Texas.
