Principal's Message

May - 2018

As May begins and April ends, end of year student activities begin to swing at full force.  Please be sure to check out the calendar so that you do not miss out on any of the end of year activities or awards ceremonies.  While the year begins to come to a close at BHS, there are still many things happening to improve student learning.  Teachers are working hard to craft lessons for the final stretch before EOC testing as well as AP exams and finals.  The campus is rolling out the "Say Something" app which is an anonymous reporting tool for students.  With this app, students can report any crisis, emergency or non-emergency, and immediately reach someone to assist with their need.  We want to remind students and parents that while we have reviewed transcripts for students, the final six weeks is very important to their overall success.  We need all students to finish strong.

Howdy!  I am proud to call Burnet my home and to be a Burnet Bulldog.  During my time as principal at Burnet High School, I have seen a wonderful culture of Spirit, Pride, and Honor develop and am so proud of the staff and students for all of their accomplishments - most recently the increase in student achievement on ELA and Math EOC assessments.  I hold a Mathematics degree from the University of Texas and n Educational Leadership degree form Sul Ross.  I have served consecutive terms as the chair of the Austin Community College TechPrep Board and am currently servicing as Region 13 Board Member on the Texas Association of Secondary Principals Board.  I work to serve all teachers and students' best academic interests and needs by ensuring state-of-the-art programs and opportunities are in place at Burnet High School.  Together, we are Crafting the Future - a future of Spirit, Pride, and Honor.
