About me...
This is my 4th year at Burnet High School and my 15th year as a full-time teacher. Prior to joining BCISD, I taught in Katy, a suburb of Houston. My experience has been in elementary, junior high, and high school, always reading and writing. I am actually certified to teach early childhood through 12th grade.
Teaching is my 2nd career. I was an audiologist in an ear, nose, and throat office for almost twenty years. I became a teacher after substitute teaching for approximately 8 years when my 2 boys were young.
I hold a bachelor of science from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana and a master of science from West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia.
My husband John and I celebrate our 39th year of marriage this fall. We have two sons, both college graduates and "off the payroll" as my husband likes to joyfully say.
I LOVE to read, although I HATED to read as a student because I have dyslexia--irony at its best! I read my first book for pleasure in my late twenties. I am a firm believer in promoting student CHOICE in books and reading regularly to improve vocabulary, schema, and critical thinking skills. Last year I read 50 books. This year my goal is to read 53 books.
I love cats and currently own 2: Hami and Cami.

Best Way to Reach Me...
Email is the BEST way to reach me.
I do NOT, as a rule, answer email during the day. I save this task for after the students have left for the day or in the evening when I get home.
If you feel you need to reach me ASAP, I would recommend that you call the school directly.
I look forward to strengthening your child's literacy skills and helping him/her become a responsible young adult.
