Congratulations BHS Students of the Month, Peyton Allen and Cohen Jorpeland!

From Coach Shipley:
Peyton Allen is a shining example of hard work, dedication, and leadership, both in the classroom and on the court and field. As an athletic department, we strive to select an athlete who has competed in multiple sports throughout their high school career, takes care of business in the classroom, and leads their peers in a positive way. Peyton has exceeded expectations in every one of those areas.

Some of Peyton’s achievements throughout high school include:

  • Four years of volleyball, including two years on varsity, earning Academic All-District honors each year and Academic All State her Senior year
  • Four years of basketball, with three years on varsity, also earning Academic All-District, and Academic All State honors
  • Four years of softball, including three years on varsity, and Academic All-District recognition
  • Active membership in HOSA during her junior and senior years
  • Involvement in Young Life Leadership
  • Serving as a Spirit Pride Honor Leader her senior year
  • Ranking in the top 10% of her class

What makes Peyton especially remarkable, and something that was unanimous among her coaches, is how much her teammates love her. She has a personality that others naturally gravitate toward. She understands the value of hard work in every role, whether as a starter or a role player, and she has embraced both with excellence. She is truly a great example of what we look for in a Burnet Lady Dawg.

Peyton’s future plans are to attend Tarleton State University, where she will major in biology. After earning her bachelor’s degree, she plans to attend Physician Assistant school and pursue a career as a pediatric PA.

Peyton, your work ethic, your leadership, and the way you impact those around you have left a lasting mark on our program. There is no doubt you will continue to do great things in the next chapter of your life.

From Coach Heusinkveld:
Cohen Jorpeland has distinguished himself not only as an exceptional athlete, but also as a dedicated and  successful student in the classroom. He consistently demonstrates a strong work ethic, takes pride in his academic responsibilities, and sets a positive example for his peers on a daily basis. In addition to his success in the classroom, he has been a standout contributor on the football field, the baseball field, and in track, representing our school and community well.

Over the past two years, I have had the privilege of watching him grow—not only as an athlete, but also academically and, most importantly, as a young man. What stands out most is his commitment to continuous improvement. He understands that success is not a destination, but an ongoing process, and he approaches each day with the mindset that there is always more to learn and achieve. I’ve seen him become a strong, confident young man. I am incredibly proud of the person he is today and even more excited about the person he is becoming. I have no doubt that Cohen will go on to be a positive force in his community, as a husband, and one day a father. He truly embodies the values we hold dear here in Burnet: Spirit, Pride, and Honor.
