This week, the Varsity Tennis Team traveled to Taylor to compete in the Taylor Tournament, and it was a tremendous success. We had five athletes represent Burnet, and each competitor returned home with an accolade.
In Boys Singles, freshman Ander Shaffer competed in his first varsity tournament and earned 2nd place in the consolation bracket — an impressive start to his varsity career. Luke Suchomel also had a strong performance, battling through a challenging draw to secure 3rd place in the consolation bracket. Nick Dietrich delivered an outstanding performance, going undefeated on the day and capturing 1st place overall in Boys Singles.
Our Mixed Doubles team also had an exceptional showing. Facing tough competition throughout the tournament, they remained undefeated and claimed 1st place overall in the Mixed Doubles division.
Overall, it was a fantastic day for Burnet Tennis. I am extremely proud of the effort, resilience, and sportsmanship our athletes demonstrated. We look forward to continuing our success this week as we travel to Gatesville.
