This weekend (February 19-21), your Lady Dawg softball team competed in the Brownwood Tournament and represented our district with spirit, pride, and honor — bringing home the tournament championship!
The Lady Dawgs opened tournament play on Thursday with a hard fought 6-6 tie against Cisco High School. They followed that performance with a dominant 14-0 win against Estacado which set the tone for the remainder of the tournament.
Carrying that momentum into Saturday, the Lady Dawgs went a perfect 3-0 against some quality softball teams. We began the day with an impressive 11-5 win over host school Brownwood, showcasing discipline, grit, and determination. Next, we secured a commanding 17-5 win over Hico. A special shoutout to Peyton Allen for her walk-off home run, beautifully placed over center field to seal the win in exciting fashion.
Our last game of the tournament was against a competitive and talented Christoval team. The girls rose to the occasion, finishing strong and proving themselves with a 6-5 win to secure tournament champions!
This weekends accomplishment is a true testament to the hard work, dedication , and commitment these young ladies have shown all season. Their teamwork and determination continue to make our district proud. I could not be more proud of this group and the way they fight and play for each other.
It was truly a great weekend to be a Burnet Lady Dawg!
