From Coach Jones:
This morning (October 21) your Burnet CC teams competed at the UIL Region 3-4A Cross Country Meet, hosted by Sam Houston University in Huntsville.
The Girls team ran the strongest that we have seen them run all season! This group of girls battled through countless obstacles throughout the season and despite the challenges they continued to fight through it. Today, they battled all the way through the line with each runner finishing the race with pure grit & heart! We could not be any prouder of this group of young women and the way they choose to show up for each other. Overall the team placed 6th out of 22 teams. ABBY BENNIGHT & MAYA CALDERON Qualified for State as Individuals!
The Boys team was ready for their opportunity to earn a chance at state. If you know anything about the course in Hunstville, you know that not many athletes earn PRs on this course. ALL 7 of the Burnet CC boys raced to prove their willingness and determination to their team. Not only did this group of young men each earn themselves a new personal record... they accomplished a 2nd place team finish out of 23 teams, and a trip to the STATE meet!!! This is the first time in 22 years that a Burnet Boys team will be competing at the state meet!
The State meet will be held at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock on Friday Novemeber 1st. Our two girls will run at 9:30 AM and our Boys team will run at 10:00 AM.
Thank you all for your continued support throughout this season!
