From Coach Speer:
This week your Bulldogs traveled to Marble Falls on Wednesday and Thursday to compete in the 24-4A District Track Meet. We were once again blessed to have 2 days of perfect track weather. Yesterday our team had to fight through a little adversity due to illness. However, we had two members of the Bulldog baseball team (Dash Denton & Will Johnson) step up to the challenge and help push two of our relay teams to area.
Overall, both teams finished District Runners-up.
Top 4 finishers will compete next week at the area meet in Gatesville.
Individual Performances:
- Victor Aviles was a triple gold medal winner finishing 1st in the 3200m, 800m, and 1600m! He was also able to break the school record in the 800m that he set last week! (photo)
- Hudson Bennett once again continues to battle his way back from injury earning 2 silver medals in the 3200m & 1600m.
- Isaias Zarate set more PRs this week in qualifying for area with a 4th place finish in the 3200m and the 800m.
- Garner Krause was your District Champion in High Jump while Riley Howell finished 3rd.
- Varsity Pole Vaulters had a good showing. Brayden Hill placed 3rd and Brady Rygaard was 4th. Both look to push on to regionals next week at the area meet.
- Grant Jones was your District Champion in the Triple Jump. District Runner-up in the Long Jump. He was also the District Runner-up in 200m and a team member in the 4x100 and 4x200 Relays that both qualified for Area.
- Clay Lamp placed 3rd in the JV 100m & 200m.
- Brody Danson was your District Champion in the JV 200m.
- Gustavo Vega was District Champion in the JV 1600m & Runner-up in the 3200m.
- Cason O'Hair was District Runner-up in the JV 300m hurdles.
- Aden Sanchez District Runner-up JV High Jump.
- Aidan Bell was also District Runner-up in the JV Pole Vault.
- Mathew Williams was District Runner-up in the Long Jump.
- Varsity 4x100 Relay 4th Place & Area Qualifier : Kris Kassner, Grant Jones, Andre Miller, & Dash Denton.
- Varsity 4x200 Relay 4th Place & Area Qualifier: Khris Kassner, Will Johnson, Reese Syphrett, & Grant Jones
- JV 4x200 Relay 3rd Place: Aden Sanchez, Brody Danson, Matthew Williams, & Demetrius Taliaferro.
- JV 4x100 2nd Place: Aden Sanchez, Brody Danson, Matthew Williams, & Josiah Coronado.
- JV 4x400 4th Place: Peyton Blain, Aidan Bell, Conner Crow, & Demetrius Taliaferro.
In all, we will have 15 Bulldogs traveling to Gatesville on Wednesday for a one day area meet. We are so proud of these young men and the progress they've made this season.
