District Tennis

From Coach Redman:

The Burnet Bulldog tennis team competed in the district tournament this week.

The team of Lynzie Wilkes and Baileigh Hopkins narrowly missed out on making the finals in the JV girls doubles draw, but were able to win the third place match! Luke Suchomel won several matches to make the finals in boys singles. The final proved to be a great match, but he brought home the silver medal falling just short in a tiebreaker.

The freshman pair Nick Dietrich and Kinzy Davidson played fantastic tournaments at the varsity level. Both made the semifinals in boys’ and girls’ singles, respectively. They worked hard in those semis and pushed their seeded opponents, but fell just short of making the finals. In the end, they played long, 3-set third place matches. Neither could get over the hump in those matches and walked away in fourth place. We are super proud of their efforts and looking forward to their futures!

Cam Stires and Christina Graves had rough starts in their quarterfinal and semifinal matches, but rallied in both to earn 3-set victories over Lago Vista and Marble Falls. They lost in the finals to Lampasas, but will make a return trip to the regional tournament in a week after finishing in second place!

Finally, the team of Aly Van Zandt and Tatum Salinas are the 2023 Girls’ Doubles district champs! They rolled through the competition to set up return trips to the regional tournament. This is Tatum’s third straight district championship(and trip to regionals) and will be Aly’s second trip to regionals in as many years.

Tatum, Aly, Christina and Cam will travel to College Station just after Easter to play on the 11th and 12th!
