The Bulldog tennis team travelled to Taylor this week to compete in the Taylor Spring Invitational.
On Thursday, we saw some early success with several competitors—Nick Dietrich, Blake Feldt, Kendall Bible and Alex Davis, and Tatum Salinas and Aly Van Zandt—getting wins in the main draw of their respective divisions. Cam Stires and Christina Graves lost to the eventual tournament champs in the first round, but turned that loss into a run to the consolation finals. Salinas and Van Zandt faced their toughest competition of the year in a girls’ doubles team from Leander and were able to beat them on the way to their 5th title this season and maintained their undefeated season.
On Friday, some of our freshmen athletes made runs in boys’ and girls’ singles, with Luke Suchomel and Alex Burns narrowly missing out on making the semifinals. The quarterfinals didn’t fall our way, but both players continue to show improvement from the beginning of the season.
Next week the action comes to Burnet as we will host a JV tournament on Thursday and a varsity tournament on Friday.
