BHS Boys Soccer Starts District

From Coach Boorman:

Bulldog Nation:

The Burnet Boys Soccer team kicked off district with a fantastic joint team dinner with the girls team as we prepared to both take on the Austin Achieve Polar Bears.  We appreciate the parents who provided different pasta and sides for our kids.  We are unique in that we get to play side by side with the girls in district play on multiple occasions this season.  We look forward to supporting each other this season.

JV faced off against Austin Achieve Tuesday night and played hard with great energy.  Orlando Hernandez made some fantastic saves.  Luis Sanchez captained the team and kept them organized.  Yosvanny Ramirez is really shaping up to be a really good soccer player who can possess the ball and find passes. The game finished 3-0.

Austin Achieve's varsity was as good as advertised, as they had just come off of a tournament win and beat Fredericksburg 5-0.  The same team we lost 6-0 to. The first half we had the wind and had a few shots and corners that we couldn't convert. When we moved Victor Aviles to striker we really started to put pressure on them.  However, just as the cold front started to blow in, so did the strength of Achieve.  They ended up scoring 3 in the 1st half.  I was proud of the boys, as all players on the field and on the bench never lost their fight and desire.  Matthew Aguayo had over 15 saves on the night. In the end, after a PK, and an own goal, the score ended 7-0.  Austin Achieve was definitely the toughest team we have faced this year.

We look forward to playing Florence which should be a much more even contest.  Time to work and get better. These young men are very resilient and full of character.  They are up for the challenge.
