Our High School Swim & Dive Team traveled to Round Rock ISD Friday (10/8) for our first large invitational meet with about 12 other teams. Teams traveled from all around the greater Austin area; 6A, 5A, and 4A all coming together to share in their passion of Swim & Dive. Our athletes had a wonderful experience not only for their individual performances but also to see some really exceptional talent across different skill levels at the Mavwood Invitational.
Below are some highlights from individual performance:
The Diving Team:
-Alexia Brooks improved her season score and placed 9th, breaking top 10 overall!
-Julia Jenkins was right behind her finishing 10th overall while improving her season scores!
-Julia Kratwell finishes 11th in her first ever high school diving competition!
-Victoria Davis broke top 15 finishing 14th overall.
-Lessa Davenport right behind placed 15th out of 19 athletes!
Our Female Divers had an excellent competition and really showed that Burnet knows how to Dive in the 1 meter springboard event!
The Boys Team:
-Hayden Brown made top 20 in his 200 Freestyle placing 18th overall out of 54 athletes!
-Aidan Zollitsch finished 24th in his 50 Freestyle out of 92 other athletes, the most popular race!
-Bryce Schwaush came in 27th in his 500 Freestyle, the longest and hardest event at the high school level!
-The Boys 200 Freestyle Relays finished 15th, breaking the top 20. The order of Swimmers=Hayden Brown, Grant Roberts, Hayden Hamner & Aidan Zollitsch!
The Girls Team:
-Isabel Lunsford finishes 10th place in her 50 Freestyle out of 106 other athletes. The 50 Freestyle has the most athletes competing and so this was truly an impressive effort on her part!
-Isabel Lunsford came in 2nd in her 500 Freestyle just blowing the competition quite literally out the water in the longest swimming event for High School level!
-The Girls 200 Freestyle Relays placed 19th, breaking the top 20. The order of Swimmers=Gracela Lara Duran, Elyzabeth Musiak, Caroline Lunsford & Isabel Lunsford!
-Caroline Lunsford finished 34th in her 100 Backstroke out of 69 other athletes!
We also had some amazing performances that were not place related. Each athlete pushes themselves!
-Mason Hughes showed the most consistency from the boys side on all of his races, a true solid performance across in all 4 of his events!
-For our Freshman Boys Swimmer Jacob Deker & Mason Roberts it was their first away meet and with each experience they continue to learn and grow.
-Alexander Davis continues to drop time in his 100 Breastroke getting him closer to his end of season goal!
-Hayden Hamner jumped right back in stepping up in all the Boys A relays after being out for a month due to knee injury.
-Levi Kleen dropped time in his 100 Freestyle!
-Grant Roberts continues to drop time in his 200 Freestyle getting him closer to his end of season goal!
-Elyzabeth Musiak dropped more time off her 50 freestyle for this season and played a vital role as the anchor for the girls 400 Freestyle Relays coming hard at the finish!
-Gracela Lara Duran proved herself in the 50 Freestyle and all 3 Relays, truly a team player!
-Brynlie Tappe swam through injury not wanting to let the team down and showing her grit/passion for the sport!
-Emma Collins came out hard in her 200 Freestyle and kept that pace throughout the long race.
The Burnet Swim/Dive Team will face off this Friday against 5 other teams at our Local Schools Invite. Please come see them perform and wear your Green! Friday, Oct0ber 10th at the YMCA of Highland Lakes located in Burnet at 3pm!
