BHS Esports Team

The Burnet Esports team is looking forward to our 2024/25 Fall and Spring seasons.  Student-players that are interested in joining the Burnet Esports team for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 seasons should contact Coach Trower.  Coach David Trower is excited to once again offer this opportunity to BHS students to compete in this newest sport for students that otherwise might not engage or participate in other extracurricular activities.  Match highlights from our inaugural season can be watched on the Burnet Esports YouTube Channel.  We'll also post highlight videos throughout the season as our players compete.

History

Burnet High School started their newest sports team in Spring 2023 with the launch of the Burnet Esports Team.  In its inaugural season, the team was comprised of 14 members and competed across two different Esports titles: Rocket League and Super Smash Bros Ultimate.  We were extremely proud to have four student-players make it into the playoffs in our inaugural season and one player advance to the state championships competing in the state quarterfinals.  We celebrated Senior Night on April 14, 2023 as we celebrated the accomplishments and dedication of five Seniors that competed on the inaugural team.

Spring 2024 Season

Our Spring 2024 season saw a couple of standout teams that made it into the playoffs.

Our Vanta Nationals League - Central Division Brawlhalla team, Burnet HS - Brawlhalla (JS), finished the regular season with a 4-2 record and was seeded 10th in the playoffs.  He won the Round of 16 to make it to the division quarterfinals.  Unfortunately, he faced a tough opponent (who ultimately went on to be division champion) and fell during the quarterfinals.  We are very proud of how far he made it as a freshman and look forward to seeing how he continues to improve over the next three years.

Our Vanta Nationals League - Central Division Pokémon Unite team, Burnet HS – Pokémon Unite, finished the regular season with a much improved 4-1 record seeing them seeded 3rd in the playoffs.  They one their semi-finals round to make a repeat appearance in the division championship game.  After a hard fought championship game, they unfortunately fell to the defending division champs to become the two-time division runner up in Pokémon Unite.

In Tetris, we had one player compete in the Texas Esports League.  Despite ending the season with a higher cumulative points total then the fall 2023 season, his overall ranking saw him finish 30th in the state with a total combined score of 296,189 for the season.  His highest scoring match was from the second week of the regular season where he scored an 111,684.
