Burnet FFA Meats Evaluation & Technology Team - NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!

From Kari Beth Langbein:

Last week, our Burnet FFA Meats Judging Team traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana to compete for the National FFA Meat Judging Contest. I can honestly say that I have never seen a more dedicated and determined group of students who wanted something so bad - collectively. This team pushed themselves for the last three years, and their hard work has paid off! They are National Champions!!

Not only are they #1 in the nation, but their individual placings are incredibly impressive as well.
Carter Bostic - 1st Place High Individual - NATIONAL CHAMPION
Jackson Drozd - 2nd Place High Individual - RESERVE NATIONAL CHAMPION
Enrique Montalvo - 4th Place High Individual
Cayden Beatty - 6th Place High Individual

The National FFA Meats Technology and Evaluation CDE is a competitive event that tests students' skills and competencies in evaluating and identifying meat carcasses and products. Event components include a general knowledge exam; beef carcass evaluation; identification of wholesale and retail cuts of beef, lamb, and pork; quality and yield grading of beef carcasses; a team meat merchandising event; and solving of a meat formulation problem. Each team has competed on the local and state levels to earn the privilege of representing their state at the National FFA Convention & Expo.

The team and I are so grateful for the outpouring of support from everyone - THANK YOU for celebrating these kids!
