Senior Leadership Day at Haley Nelson Park

From Caity Clinton:
We witnessed kids work through some moments that might have been uncomfortable for them, work together, gain new perspectives, persevere through challenges, listen to each other and witnessed kids step up and step back as leaders. It was great!

As an educator, I understand the importance of kids learning the curriculum in English, Math, History, and even Dance. However, the skills we learn today are more important than our day to day work in the classroom. Burnet CISD has made it clear that we are working on building leaders in our students. LeaderInMe is one example of that. If we want our kids to become leaders, take initiative and take responsibility for their actions, all skills they will need after graduation, we need to find the tools they need in order to be successful. That was what today was all about! Building great leaders! In the words of Helen Keller, “alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” Leaders are not born, they are made.
