From Coach Shipley:
Last week was a very busy week for Lady Dawg Volleyball! We started the week at Salado and all three teams came up a little short, but fought hard against a great Salado program. Our JV and Freshman teams hosted the Burnet Classic Tournament on Thursday and Saturday. Picking up two wins on Thursday secured spots for both teams in the Gold Bracket. They won their first games and advanced to the Championship. Our JV team faced a tough Liberty Hill group. They battled until the end, but could not take the lead. We are so proud of their 2nd place finish! Our Freshmen faced Wimberley for the third time this season, both teams defeating each other once. This was a nail biter until the very end of three sets! Wimberley just made some tough plays at the end and our Freshman girls earned 2nd place. We are extremely proud of this group as well!!
On top of all that, all three teams hosted Gatesville Friday night! It was a program sweep, with all three teams winning all sets! Overall, this was a very successful week for all of our girls! We will be at home again on Tuesday AND Friday! Tuesday, Brownwood comes to town and we are honoring our teachers! Some of you received personal invites from our players, but all are encouraged to come support our girls. District will start on Friday against Lago Vista. Since it is Homecoming, our Varsity will start at 4:30. Freshman and JV teams will follow at around 5:30. You have time before the football game to come cheer on our volleyball girls as they begin district play!
I want to send a HUGE THANK YOU to our volleyball girls, their parents/family and our custodians, Coach Eaton, Coach Kelley & Coach M. Jones! Without these people, this tournament would not have been such a success. We were complimented several times on how well it was ran and how great the hospitality was! Our Volleyball family came together and pulled of a huge tournament of 20 teams! It is incredible what a GREAT villiage can accomplish!
