Congratulations Elyzabeth Musiak, Rotary Student of the Month!

From Mrs. Drake:

Elyzabeth Musiak has the heart of a person who believes in Service Above Self which she has exhibited time and again. This year as the president of the Burnet High School Interact Club, she has led this organization through fantastic service opportunities.

Creating new and varied opportunities for the members of this organization has led to a sense of hope and leadership for each individual. Under Elyzabeth’s leadership, the Club was off to a fast start in September by volunteering to greet and seat attendees of the Rotary Scholarship Nite for Kids. In October she planned and organized the first ever Burnet High School Trunk-or-Treat. This was a fantastic opportunity for BHS organizations to dress up in costumes, decorate their vehicles, and pass out candy ensuring the children in the Burnet Community had a clean and drug free experience. At Christmas the Club wanted to honor every BHS employee with a Christmas Card personally designed and signed by each member. January brought a Day of Service. Elyzabeth contacted the Humane Society of Burnet County and the Boys & Girls Club which allowed the Interact members to help two worthy organizations who rely on students like the Interact Club to help them with their cause. This led to the organization of the annual Soles4Souls drive for donated shoes to be refurbished and passed on to communities around the globe. One of the highlights of this year was organizing the Interact members to help with the Texas Mission of Mercy Dental Clinic. This was a phenomenal undertaking which allowed the members to help people get the dental care they needed. By recruiting members who were bilingual, Elyzabeth realized they could partner with patients who did not speak English and help the patients communicate with the physicians and techs.

Elyzabeth has been a wonderful leader by allowing this organization to be student led and creating valuable opportunities for the members to Serve Above Self. This is in addition to her countless hours volunteering with HOSA and being the Co-Captain of the BHS Swim & Dive team.

Elyzabeth will be attending The University of Texas at Austin where she will pursue a degree in the medical field.
