UIL Academic Tournament Results

BHS hosted the District 24-4A UIL Academic meet last week and I wanted to recognize those who were able to advance to the Region 3 meet to be held in Nacogdoches on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University on April 21-22.  
 
Hunter Hobbs Social Studies Team won gold and had the 2nd highest score in the state for class 4A.  Claire Teague is also the District Champion and Brett Nelson and Aedan McLennan finished as bronze and silver medalists.   Kaycie Banton was 4th, and Cayden Beatty finished 5th in the individual division.
 
Clint Mulhollan's Current Issues & Events Team won gold and also had the 2nd highest score in the state for class 4A.  Hayden Brown is the District Champion followed by Grace Gates and Tatum Salinas for a sweep of the gold, silver and bronze medals.  Wrigley Mulhollan finished as the 5th place individual.  
 
The Spelling and Vocabulary Team won gold and had the 5th highest score in the state in class 4A.  Jennifer Suarez is the District gold medal winner, Alaina Clark was 4th, and Katie Bronaugh was 5th.  
 
KK McLeod and her Ready Writers were led by District gold medal winner Elijah Tait, and Sereay Jackson with a 6th place finish.  Literary Criticism had a 4th place finisher with Haily Trial finishing in a tie between two others for 2nd through 4th, and missed out by one point on the tiebreaker.  
 
Blake Feldt, coached by Rachel Bertelson garnered a 5th place finish in Number Sense. 
 
Ellen Reid, coached by Clint Mulhollan finished as the silver medalist in Poetry and will advance to the regional meet in those events.  
 
Ray Reid, coached by David Trower finished in 6th place in Computer Applications.
