BHS Tennis Results from March Madness Tournaments

The Burnet Tennis team traveled to Leander this week to take part in the March Madness tournaments. These were large events attended by more than 20 schools.

On Tuesday, our freshmen had a fantastic day. Each participant--2 girls singles, 1 boys singles, and 1 boys doubles--made it to the final of their respective draws! The singles finals didn't fall our way, but the boys team of Luke Suchomel and Nick Dietrich were able to capture the gold medal after beating a team from Leander Rouse 8-6. Kinzy Davidson, Alex Burns, and Blake Feldt all took second place in their draws. It's always a good day when everyone comes home with a medal!

We didn't have as much success on Wednesday with the larger schools' depth providing some great competition at the JV level. It was a good experience for our kids to get to see that level of play.

On Thursday, the level of play again proved difficult. The mixed doubles team of Cam Stires and Christina Graves had a tough first round loss, but were able to rally and make the consolation finals in the A Mixed Doubles draw. Tatum Salinas and Aly Van Zandt suffered their first losses of the year after making the semifinals--falling to Westwood and a team from Cedar Park. The girls played some great tennis, but fell just short of earning the third place medals after losing in a tie breaker to Cedar Park.

It was a good 3 days of tennis and great experience to see some excellent tennis! We are back in action after spring break when we travel to Pflugerville.
