The Burnet HS Band hosted the Region 32 UIL Concert & Sight Reading Evaluation March 7&8. In addition to running a smooth event with 23 participating bands, the high school varsity and non-varsity bands both earned first divisions from all six judges. Both bands received a UIL sweepstakes trophy which is awarded when the band receives a composite first division rating on stage (concert) as well as in sight reading. Out of 9 non-varsity bands, Burnet HS Non-Varsity was the only non-varsity band to earn a sweepstakes.
Judges gushed over both bands for their stage performance as well as their sight reading. Here are a few quotes from the comment sheets: "Be still, my heart! Gorgeous! One of my all time favorites - thank you for having the musical maturity to 'pull this off' - just wonderful!” "Wow! Great opening - impressive! Loved it!”
Both bands will continue their hard work as they prepare for their recording concerts at TLU in Seguin on May 19. If you would like to hear the bands in person, the Spring Band Concert will be on May 11 in the high school auditorium beginning at 7pm.
The Burnet Bands would like to thank the entire Burnet community for the incredible support we receive year in and year out! We couldn't do it without the strong foundation that this community has provided for decades!
Thank you!
