BHS Boys Soccer vs. Florence 2/28

Bulldog Nation:

Your Bulldogs took on the Florence Buffalos for the third time in a non-district friendly game. We were quite short handed this night, but that did not stop the boys from giving their full effort.

JV started off the night. Bruce Gonzalez had some nice runs down the line, and got a few shots. Genesis Ceron played down this game to give Dwight Lopez a chance to play varsity. Genesis played well and had a few close opportunities to convert goals. Julius Nava was a standout in the back four, running down and stopping counter attacks. The game ended 2-0 in favor of the Buffalos.

Varsity was also short handed, and we took this opportunity to let boys who haven't got that much playing time this year get in. I was pleased that the standard of play did not diminish. The boys gave up a couple of goals early in the 1st half due to miscommunication on the back 4. Once they cleaned that up they played spectacular shut down defense. Eric Hernandez scored first off a cross from Dwight Lopez, recently promoted from JV. After this equalizer to tie the game 1-1, Dwight delivered another beautiful kick to find Dennis Marquina's head to find goal two. Hector Arredondo came in for a short spell, but found a great shot. Unfortunately, it was blocked, but fell to Eric Huerta who placed it back post for goal 3. The game ended 3-2 as we continued our clean sweep of Florence for the season.

The boys travel to Lago Vista on Friday to decide 3rd in district. We appreciate all the support. The boys are continuing to improve each game they play.
