BHS Swim & Dive State Recap!

The Burnet High School Swimming & Dive State Qualifiers absolutely killed it at today's UIL 4A State Meet, the first ever as a 4A Division! This year BHS had 2 female divers qualify. A Burnet High School swimmer has not qualified for a State Meet until the early 2000's. This year we had 4 female swimmers and 6 male swimmers qualify to represent Spirit, Pride & Honor! 
 
The Diving Team: Diving is the only event in the high school formating where 1 individual can earn and add the greatest point value to the teams overall scores. Congratulations to these 2 amazing athletes! 
-Julia Jenkins-finished 4th overall, holding her placement and points value. She improved from her preliminary diving scores by 79.50 points!
-Julia Kratwell-finished 7th overall out of 9 female divers. She improved from her preliminary diving scores by 68.85 points!
 
The Boys Team: Our boys team finished 11th out of 40 other 4A teams. They just beat out Fredericksburg, by 1 point and Georgetown Gateway by 2 points, 2 teams we always have fun racing. Congratulations to these 7 amazing athletes! 
-The Boys 200 Medley Relays finished 11th moving up 3 placements from preliminaries, setting a new Personal Best Time! The order of Swimmers=Lucuiz Griego, Mason Hughes, Stelllan Zollitsch & Hayden Hamner
-Hayden Brown finished 6th in his 200 Freestyle and dropped 2 seconds from his best time which was swam in Friday's Preliminaries Session! ! He finished 10th in his 100 Freestyle!
-Aidan Zollitsch finished 11th in his 50 with an excellent performance! 
-Lucuiz Griego finished 10th in the 100 Backstroke, holding his placement! 
-The Boys 400 Freestyle Relays finished 6th moving up 1 placement. The order of Swimmers=Aidan Zollitsch, Grant Roberts, Hayden Hamner & Hayden Brown. Incredibly, all 4 athletes swam their fastest 100 splits which resulted in a 3 second relay time drop! 
 
The Girls Team: Our girls team finished within the top 10 of the state with an amazing 8th place finish. They were only 3 points away from 7th place and 18 points ahead of 9th place. Congratulations to these 4 amazing athletes!     
-Isabel Lunsford is a 2022-2023 4A State Champion with 2 2nd place finishes in both her 200 Freestyle & 100 Butterfly! 
-Graciela Lara Dura had an outstanding meet and set personal bests in every event she swam (Individuals & Relay Splits!)   
-The Girls 200 Freestyle Relays finished 5th which moved them up 1 spot. The order of Swimmers=Graciela Lara Duran, Elyzabeth Musiak, Caroline Lunsford & Isabel Lunsford!
-The Girls 400 Freestyle Relays finished 5th which held their placements from prelims to finals. The order of Swimmers=Elyzabeth Musiak, Caroline Lunsford, Graciela Lara Duran & Isabel Lunsford!
