Our High School Swim & Dive Team hosted the District Qualifying Meet this past Friday and put forth an outstanding performance. We have 15 Athletes moving on to Regionals on Friday. With a New District Alignment, Burnet set 9 District Records with 9 1st Place Finishes. Every team member gave their all and left everything in the pool! Below are the highlights from our individual performance:
The Diving Team:
-Julia Jenkins moved on to Regionals with her highest scores yet!
-Julia Kratwell has also qualified for Regionals, her first year diving at the high school level!
The Boys Team: First 1st place, taking home the boys highest score of the season and a District Trophy!
-The Boys 200 Medley Relays finished 3rd, and are moving on to Regionals. The order of Swimmers=Lucuiz Griego, Mason Hughes, Stelllan Zollitsch & Hayden Hamner!
-Hayden Brown placed 1st in his 200 Freestyle & 100 Freestyle. He is the top seed for our District and moved on to Regionals!
-Grant Roberts finished 3rd, qualifying for Regionals and dropping 4 seconds! He also dropped time in his 100 Freestyle.
-Mason Hughes Dropped close to 8 seconds in his 200 IM and is moving on to Regionals. He also qualified in his 100 Breaststroke with a 4th place finish.
-Aidan Zollitsch finished 2nd in his 50 Freestyle, dropping time and moving on as the 2nd top seed in our District! He also dropped time in 100 Freestyle, a new Personal Best!
-Lucuiz Griego finished 4th in his 50 Freestyle, qualifying for Regionals! He also finished 1st in the 100 Backstroke, the top seed for our District!
-Stellan Zollitsch finished 2nd in his 100 Butterfly, qualifying for Regionals and dropping 7 seconds.
-Mason Roberts dropped 1 second, coming in 4th and qualifying for Regionals in his 100 Butterfly.
-Bryce Schwaush came in 3rd in his 500 Freestyle, the longest and hardest event at the high school level while dropping 2 seconds!
-The Boys 200 Freestyle Relays finished 1st, breaking the personal best by 1 second and qualifying for Regionals. The order of Swimmers=Aidan Zollitsch, Mason Hughes, Lucuiz Griego & Hayden Brown!
-The Boys 400 Freestyle Relays also finished 1st dropping 8 second and qualifying for Regionals as the top seed. The order of Swimmers=Aidan Zollitsch, Grant Roberts, Hayden Hamner & Hayden Brown!
The Girls Team: Finished 2nd overall, their best finish of the whole season!
-Isabel Lunsford finished 1st in her 200 Freestyle, breaking her own school record and qualifying for Regionals. She also took 1st in the 100 Butterfly, moving on to Regionals and broke her own record again!
-Graciela Lara Duran came in 3rd in her 50 Freestyle moving on to Regionals and dropping a little less than a second of her best time! She also qualified in the 100 Freestyle with a 3rd place finish and a new personal best!
-Caroline Lunsford finished 2nd in her 50 Freestyle, reaching a STAGS Cut Time, Moving on Regionals and dropping 3 seconds. In her 100 Backstroke, she placed 2nd, moving on to Regionals and dropping 4 seconds!
-The Girls 200 Freestyle Relays placed 1st, breaking the school record and qualifying for Regionals at their fastest time yet. The order of Swimmers=Graciela Lara Duran, Elyzabeth Musiak, Caroline Lunsford & Isabel Lunsford!
-The Girls 400 Freestyle Relays also placed 1st, qualifying for Regionals as the Top Seed and dropping 5 seconds. The order of Swimmers=Elyzabeth Musiak, Caroline Lunsford, Graciela Lara Duran & Isabel Lunsford!
We also had some amazing performances that were not place/qualifying related. Each athlete pushes themselves and truly emptied the tank. We had 17 Athletes either drop time or set a new personal best, Please congratulate these athletes on an amazing season.
-Brice Cardwell, Emma Collins, Lessa Davenport, Alexander Davis, Jacob Decker, Levi Kleen & Brynlie Tappe!
The Burnet Swim/Dive Team will travel to San Antonio this Thursday for the Regional Qualifying Swim/Dive Meet. Please wish the athletes the best of luck as they represent Burnet with Spirit, Price & Honor this weekend!
