Congratulations to Claire Teague & Jahir Benitez, January Students of the Month!

Claire Teague is an outstanding example of an exemplary student who demonstrates Spirit, Pride and Honor everyday.  Claire has been in BETC for 4 years.  She has performed in 3 musicals, 1 fall show, and 4 One Act Plays.  You may remember her as Miss Honey from Matilda, Jr.,  Ma from Storm in the Barn, and a Member of the District, Bi-District and Regional qualifying One Act Play, Treasure Island.  She was also an MC for the Spring Show last year and has been the captain of BETC for 2 years.  She is currently playing the role of Mrs. Darling and Smee in the 2023 One Act Play, Peter Pan.

While Claire is phenomenal in BETC, she is even more outstanding in the classroom, in her leadership skills, and other extracurricular activities.  Claire is currently #1 in her class of 266 and a National Merit Scholar Semifinalist. She has been honored with the National Rural and Small Town Recognition Award as well as the Dean’s List for Angelo State for Fall 2021 and Spring 2022.   She was an Emcee for the pep rallies,  is the Yearbook Editor, and the National Honor Society Vice-President.  Claire is also the reigning UIL Social Studies State Champion.  You can also hear her sweet voice on Sundays singing with worship services at the First United Methodist Church.  Claire pursues all endeavors with passion and enthusiasm. This young lady truly puts her heart into all she is involved in and motivates others by her hard work and dedication. The whole theatre department and much of the school responds to the motivation she continually shows and the leadership she displays. In the words of American Western author Louis L’Amour, “A great book begins with an idea; a great life, with a determination.” This young lady’s determination, Spirit, Pride, and Honor and work ethic are setting her up for quite the life to come.

Claire has been accepted into Rice University. Her plan is to study Biology.

He is very creative and is also taking a graphics design class. He is an AVID student that plans to attend college next year. Jahir is captain of the Burnet High School soccer team. He is able to do all this while working part time at HEB. He makes good choices and sets a good example showing Burnet High School Spirit Pride and Honor.
