EDC Off to a Great Start!!

The Burnet Esprit de Corps competed in the Bands of America Austin Regional this past Saturday (9/24) and earned the title, Class 2A Champion!  EDC swept all captions earning outstanding music, outstanding visual and outstanding general effect.  The students earned the highest score we’ve ever received at BOA Austin beating several 5A/6A schools in the process.

As class champion, EDC was invited to march as an exhibition group in finals where the students improved from their prelims run.  After finals, EDC got to participate in a full retreat where they shared the field with some of the best bands in the world!

I am incredibly proud of our students and staff.  Also, I am thankful for our support system including our boosters, administration, transportation, and community.  It takes a village and we have the best!

While the accolades are great, the things I am most proud of happen behind the scenes.  Here are a few examples of our accomplishments Friday and Saturday:
  • Persevered through two 17 hour days
  • Loaded/unloaded the semi 5 times
  • Walked/marched/danced approximately 50,000 steps
  • Performed the show 3 times
  • 260 miles traveled safely
  • Supported our football team in an epic shootout that resulted in a memorable victory!
  • EDC represented Burnet CISD with Spirit, Pride, and Honor!
EDC competes again this Saturday (10/1) in the Vista Ridge Marching Festival at Gupton Stadium. Our prelims performance is at 4:15pm. Hope to see you there!
