Thursday night (9/22) the Burnet tennis team traveled to Marble Falls in our final district match of the regular season. Both teams were 2-1 going into the match which would determine second place going into the district tournament.
Both teams came ready to play. Four of the matches went to third set tie breakers, with three of them ending in a difference of just two points!
After doubles play, Burnet had a lead of 5-2. The singles matches were pretty evenly split, with the Mustangs taking the edge 7-5. However, the Bulldogs earned the 10 points necessary to take the victory!
Next Thursday the two teams will play again, here in Burnet, in the semi finals of the district tournament to determine playoff position. The number of matches that were tightly contested suggest that it should be another close match, with either team having the opportunity to take the win.
