Our BHS volleyball teams have been working hard for over a week now. All three teams got up early Saturday morning to travel to Glen Rose for scrimmages. Everyone competed well!
On Tuesday night, your Lady Dawgs began their season hosting a great Blanco program! All three teams were able to start the season with victories!
The Freshman team came out on fire and dominated to win in straight sets! They are a spunky, hard working group! They started their high school careers with a great team win!
JV battled a tough, exciting match. Many long rallies and three sets later, our JV girls wrapped it up with a win! It took great teamwork and grit to get it done. They are an athletic, scrappy group and will be fun to watch this year!
The Varsity match was nothing short of a thriller! It was up and down the entire match but when it clicked, it CLICKED! I’m so proud of them for not giving up when it would have been easy to back down, especially in set 5. They truly punched adversity in the face! With many new faces on the varsity, team chemistry and trust are at the top of the priority list. They all have great energy, effort and attitudes. When all of that, the chemistry and pace of the game come together, this team will be hard to beat! I could write a paragraph about each of them and how proud I am of them, but I will hold off on that!
In set 5, we were down 8-11 and then 10-14. At match point, Addie Houston stepped up to the service line where many struggled. With a great defense backing her and everyone doing their job, Addie served thru point 16 to win the match with an ace! I believe this was a major step forward for all of them as a team in many ways. I look forward to an exciting season with a fabulous group of girls!
The Varsity will be at the Wimberley TEXFEST tournament this weekend.
