Mrs. McLeod's students recently completed their Living Poets project and the culminating piece was to send a letter or email to their poet of choice. Some students have already received replies from the poets!When this project was first assigned, the goal was to expose students to more accessible, relatable poetry, and to practice writing professional emails and letters. Students were told there was no guarantee that their poets would respond, but that the practice was valuable on its own. The kids were really excited when their poets began writing back! Mrs. McLeod says this experience has made poetry so much more impactful and interesting to them!
