This is my 32nd year in Education and my fourth year at Burnet High School.I graduated from Sul Ross State University in 1990. I enjoy going out on the boat, golfing and spending time with my family. My wife's name is Teri and we have three kids ages 20,21, and 22. I look forward to working with all the amazing kids in my class.

Syllabus
  1. Course Title: Life Skills Class Burnet High School

  1. Course Description: This class is designed to provide support and assistance to high school students with special needs, including but not limited to learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and behavioral challenges. Students will receive individualized instruction and accommodations in order to help them succeed academically and socially.

III. Course Objectives:

- To develop strategies for academic success

- To improve social skills and communication

- To promote self-advocacy

- To foster independence and self-confidence


IV. Course Outline:

1. Academic Support

  - Differentiated instruction

  - Study skills and organization

  - Building relationships

  - Conflict resolution

  - Understanding personal strengths 


V.Grading:

Grading will be based on participation, completion of assignments, adherence to IEP goals, and progress towards individualized objectives.


VI.Recommended Materials:

Textbooks or other resources related to special education, as well as any necessary assistive technology or adaptive materials.


VII.Course Evaluation: 

Regular assessment of student progress through observation, performance on assignments/tasks,and feedback from teachers/therapists/parents/guardians.
